If
you have a question about M9, we are more than willing to answer it
for you. Before contacting us, please look over these frequently
asked questions to see if your question has already been answered.
Q: When is the event?
A: M9 will take place September 25, 2002 from 4:00
pm to 11:00 pm
Q: Where does the event take place?
A: The event is at the Mid
Michigan Motorplex in Stanton, Michigan. Stanton is
about 50 miles from Grand Rapids, 60 miles from Lansing, 150 miles
from Detroit, 225 miles from Chicago, 304 miles from Indianapolis,
320 miles from Columbus and 570 miles from Toronto. Track
information can be found here
and complete driving directions can be found here.
Q: Do I have to live in Michigan to attend?
A: No, you are more than welcome to attend no matter
where you live. We have people had attend the events in the
past from as far as Las Vegas and St. Louis.
Q: Do I have to pre-register to attend?
A: No, you do NOT have to pre-register to attend.
You can pay at the gate the day of the event, but if you want
to save $5 of the admission fee and bring in additional guests in
for free, you will have to pre-register by September 18. More
details can be found here.
Q: What kind of car can I bring?
A: Any year, make or model of an American General
Motors Product. It it was made by GM, you can race
it at M9. From Chevettes to full-size pickups to full-on race
cars, it is a "run whatcha brung" event...and long as
it is in a domestic GM vehicle. This does not include
cars produced by subsidiaries of GM or companies partly owned by
GM such as Subaru, Saaaaab, Opel, etc. They have their own
events!
Q: Does General Motors host this event?
A: No, this event is for GM vehicles, but The General
Motors Corporation does not host this event in any way. GM
does, however help make the event even more fun by supplying us
with goodies to give away and some special guests and more.
Q: What kind of event is this?
A: This event is meant to be "one last run" before
the cold weather sets in (sometimes it sets in before the event, but
that only means better track times). It is not meant to be a
hardcore winner-take-all event, but a fun day of racing and
meeting new friends and seeing old ones again. You can feel
comfortable bringing the whole family to this event. Because
the eliminations are bracket
racing, you have just as good of a chance driving a 20-second
Chevette as you do driving an 8-second Buick Grand National.
Q: What does M9 mean? What is the history of this event?
A: It started with the first Michigan F-body event put
on in Milan, Michigan by a couple of Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts
named Paula Bousley and Steve Hauswirth. The event was called
"Milan Mania" and even though only 25 cars showed up,
it was a great success. The next year, Steve could not help
organize another event due to a new family on the way, so Jason
Debler stepped in to help Paula organize the second event. This
time, the event was called Milan
Mania II and it was a little bit bigger than the first. The
next year, Paula was not in the position to help organize the third
event, so it was up to Jason to see what he could put together.
He decided to move the event to a larger facility, the Mid
Michigan Motorplex. Instead of calling it "Mid
Michigan Mania", Jason shortened the name to the first three
letters simply calling the event "M3"
to also go along with the 3rd annual event. Jason has been
organizing the event ever since. As the following year's events
took place, the M events began getting larger and gaining a reputation
for being one of the best and most fun GM racing events of the year
for the Michigan area. M9 should be no exception and we certainly
hope to see you there!
